How Does The Evolution Aqua Nexus 220 Pond Filter Operate?

The Nexus range filters water on a whole new and improved level to provide higher stages of clarity for Koi ponds. • Pump Fed

Your pump is the one to be supplying the water to the filter before the filtered water can return to your pond via gravity which is either by the waterfall technique or through a wide pipe which is known as pump fed.

Firstly, you need to fill your Nexus by opening the inlet valve. You then have to switch the pump on with a pump fed unit. Once it is up to its brim, you can see that both the K1 Media within the outer chamber and the K1 Micro within the Eazy will stay afloat at the water surface. If there are fishes in the pond, the media will be absorbing the pondwater and turn semi-afloat within a week or so which is a completely normal process.

You would then need to turn your air pump on for circulation of the media to ensure that the air valve towards the outer chamber is free and the valve to the Eazy is closed.

• Gravity Fed

Your pump is the one that will be in use to ensure that the filtered water can return back to the pond so your filter is to be supplied via gravity using a wide diameter pipe. The water level in this filter will eventually be the same as the pondwater.

The water feed on a gravity fed system should be from a bottom drain that flows through an approximately 4 inches pipe with as few bends as possible. At the end of the bottom drain line before it reaches the Nexus, you would require a valve so that the flow can be shut and isolate the Nexus.

A gravity fed filter system is when the Nexus’ water level is at the same level with the pondwater. Hence, it is crucial to ensure that the Nexus is installed with its lip should be on the same level with the water surface of the pond. Your Nexus plinth should be 735mm below of the pondwater surface.
